What will you do?
As a professor (lector) at The Hague University of Applied Sciences (THUAS), you play a key role in shaping and leading a research group that bridges education, research, and practice. You’ll focus on marketing’s role in creating value for society, particularly exploring how digital technologies and data can drive purposeful marketing and a sustainable economy. Key questions include how businesses can leverage digital tools for multi-value creation, future marketing strategies for B2B and B2C, and the impact of purposeful marketing on various business functions.
Your work involves close collaboration with businesses, public organizations, and academic institutions, all within the context of the faculty of Business, Finance & Marketing, and the Centre of Expertise Digital Operations and Finance. You can for instance partner with research groups like New Finance, Platform Economy, Circular Business and Smart Sustainable Manufacturing.
You’ll also work with educational programs, such as Marketing Management and International Business, for instance by connecting your research group to specific learning outcomes within our education. Your research group will create opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience by engaging with real-world business challenges.
As a connector, you foster collaboration between THUAS and external partners, establishing research programs and securing funding to support projects. You’ll manage a multidisciplinary research team and ensure new knowledge is integrated into the educational programs to inspire both students and faculty.

- A PhD in a marketing related field.
- Broad experience in conducting relevant applied research, which is demonstrated by recent participation in research projects, (scientific) national and international publications and presentations.
- Clear vision on innovative developments in relevant research- and professional practices and the translation to (higher vocational) education.
- Experience in managing a multidisciplinary (research) team.
- A relevant network, associated with this domain, at your disposal which you can actively involve.
- A proven track record in writing research proposals and acquiring grants (national and international) and other funding.
- Intercultural and communication skills in Dutch and English and experience adapting to a diversity of people and roles.
This is what you can expect from us
First and foremost, it's important that you are able to enjoy your work. In addition, we offer you:
- A temporary position till August 31st 2027 (CAO HBO D4) for a maximum of 0,6 fte (24 hours per week);
- An intermediate evaluation of your performance will be conducted after approx. one year;
- At the end of the duration, an evaluation will be conducted of the research group that will decide the future of the research group;
- A salary of € 6.737,28 – € 8.698,65 gross per month (scale 15) for a full-time work week;
- 8% vacation allowance;
- Guaranteed end-of-year pay of 8,3%

The lectorate Purposeful Data-driven Marketing is part of the faculty Business, Finance & Marketing (BFM) and is part of the Centre of Expertise Digital Operations & Finance, together with the lectorates Change Management, Photonics, New Finance, Smart Sensor Systems, Smart Sustainable Manufacturing and Platform Economy. Within the Centre of Expertise these research groups work together on digital technology for a sustainable economy.
The research is focused around three themes: Future of Work; Responsible Business; Data Driven Sustainability. The lectorate contributes to the education programmes of the faculties Business, Finance & Marketing and Management & Organisation.
